Brahms' 'Ein deutsches requiem' - st martin in the fields, m

In the darkness of the Covid-19 global pandemic, this performance of Brahms' contemplative Ein deutches Requiem (arr. Iain Farrington) alongside St Martins' Voices and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields felt especially poignant:

'Lord, let me know mine end and the number of my days; that I may be certified how long I have to live' (Psalm 39)

Beverley minster, october 2020

Reynaldo Hahn 'L'enamourée'

In this rich setting, the French-Venezualan composer Reynaldo Hahn reflects on love's capacity to endure even beyond death.

Franz Schubert 'Nacht and Träume'

Recorded during what felt like an interminable national lockdown, this plea to return to the solace of sleep and dreams felt more poignant than usual.

Purcell 'Music for a While'

One of Henry Purcell's most famous settings, 'Music for a While' reflects on music's ability to restore, heal and comfort.
